From the band's singer/songwriter Jarrett Lee:
"The song was written in the summer of 2018 and simply put, feels like a cathartic break up anthem every time I hear it. It’s about the pain of losing someone and dealing with that loss while being stuck in a summer that felt like it would never end. There was a heat-wave and Vancouver felt crazier than usual. She became my fixation, a direct correlation to the environment around me.
When I wrote Endless Summer, I always imagined it having an anthemic, band feel. My goal when I write is to get out of the way of a song once I’ve taken it as far as I can. The meaning will always kind of be hidden and significant to only me. But once it’s out in the world it’s no longer mine, it’s interpretation belongs to that of the listener. Writing is a way to explore my emotions and experiences, describe them in the least obvious way possible, get them out, match them to a melody and let the music take over."
Endless Summer was recorded in 2019 at Protection Island Studios in Maple Ridge, BC. It was Produced, engineered and mixed by Jonathan Anderson and mastered by Harris Newman at Greymarket Mastering. This project is funded in part by FACTOR and Creative BC.
